Smartathon 2025 was the inaugural edition of IEEE SJCE Student Branch's flagship 24-hour hackathon, organized in collaboration with the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) Madras Chapter, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., IEEE Madras Section, and other IEEE partners. The event provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase their innovation, creativity, and technical expertise by developing practical solutions to real-world challenges across multiple domains.
Bringing together talented participants from various institutions, Smartathon 2025 encouraged collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving through continuous mentoring by industry experts and IEEE professionals. The event marked the beginning of a tradition of innovation at IEEE SJCE, empowering students to transform ideas into impactful solutions while strengthening their technical and leadership skills.
UniteAI
UniteAI | Global Innovation Forum is an international platform that brings together students, researchers, academicians, and industry professionals from around the world to foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange in emerging technologies. Hosted by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and the IEEE SJCE Student Branch, in association with NITTTR Chennai, the Centre for International Relations – Anna University, and the IEEE Madras Section, the forum promotes the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence and allied technologies for societal advancement.
The forum welcomed delegates from 28+ countries, creating a vibrant environment for cross-cultural interaction and global networking. Through insightful discussions, technical sessions, and collaborative activities in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), participants explored innovative solutions to real-world challenges while building lasting international connections. UniteAI stands as a testament to IEEE SJCE's commitment to advancing technology for humanity through global collaboration, innovation, and inclusive learning.
Smartathon 2.0
Smartathon 2.0 is the flagship 24-hour hackathon organized by the IEEE St. Joseph's College of Engineering Student Branch in collaboration with IEEE societies and industry partners. The event provides a platform for students to transform innovative ideas into real-world solutions by working collaboratively on challenging engineering problems. Through mentorship from industry experts, technical guidance, and continuous innovation, participants enhance their problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills. Smartathon reflects IEEE SJCE's commitment to fostering creativity, entrepreneurship, and technological excellence while empowering the next generation of innovators.
Her Health Horizon
Her Health Horizon is a flagship women’s wellness initiative organized by the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group, IEEE SJCE Student Branch, in association with the Rotary Club of Chennai Sneham, to promote preventive healthcare and well-being among women. Conducted in celebration of International Women’s Day, the program was dedicated to empowering the women teaching and non-teaching staff of St. Joseph’s Group of Institutions through awareness, early diagnosis, and access to essential healthcare services.
Benefiting around 100 women staff members, the event offered free mammogram screening, Pap smear tests, oral health check-ups, and expert medical consultations led by distinguished healthcare professionals. By emphasizing the importance of early detection, regular health screenings, and self-care, Her Health Horizon reflected IEEE SJCE’s commitment to creating a healthier, more informed, and empowered community while advancing technology and service for humanity.
